Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/15/2007

Number: 1

Greetings Journey North from Sam's farm outside of Madoc. I have been busily introducing larvae and butterflies to some of the schools in the area, and helping students and teachers tag and release... and I thought all the monarchs were long gone.
But- we had a really warm spell of weather and on October 15 I met a very healthy and brightly coloured male monarch on the road near my home. He didn't want to stick around long enough to be tagged, so I pointed the way south for him and sent him on his way. I am amazed to have found a monarch so late in the season, but our weather has been unseasonably warm.
