"The Rio Grande Valley (southmost Texas) usually does not get lots of monarch reports," wrote Mike Quinn, Texas Parks and Wildlife as he forwarded this report:
We estimate 125-150 Monarch butterflies are roosting in our neighborhood in Edinburg tonight (10/24/07). I counted 75 in an Anaqua tree in the back yard, and we saw another roost across the street and enough butterflies on the wing to make up the difference. Also seen in Edinburg today were Queens,Sicklewing skippers, a Mimosa yellow, a Pipevine swallowtail and a Fatal metalmark. Photos of some of today's goodness can be seen at
