Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/25/2007

Number: 1

"Incredible numbers of monarchs moving south over the water, just off the shoreline. I set the scope on an intermediate distance at which I have a very good depths of view and counted big orange flutter-bys for 3 minutes. 194! I just looked again (1:21 p.m.) and they are still coming. There are constantly several going through the yard, too. It's just a massive
migration. Of course I did not investigate every big orange butterfly out there over the Bay for the possibility of being a Queen but since all of them in the yard are monarchs it seems pretty likely the ones over the Bay are so, too."
