Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/25/2007

Number: 1

This afternoon the third grade classes at Cedar Park Elementary Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) School planted over 100 Red Emperor Tulip bulbs in our outdoor classroom on the west side of our building. At the test site we used two temperature data recorders. The outdoor temperature was 72°F and the ground temperature was 58°F. It was a warm day for this time of year in Minnesota. Our school is situated in the middle of a large valley. Hence our city’s name Apple Valley. The geography is rolling. The elevation from the lowest to the highest point in our city varies by a hundred feet or more. Our school is situated in one of the lower points in the valley. It will be interesting to see what effects this will have on our bulbs emerging in the Spring.
