Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/25/2007

Number: 1

I am on an offshore gas production facility, in the High Island block about 120 miles south of the Tx-La state line. It's dusk, about 7pm and the number of butterflies have increased. They don't seem to be stopping. They just flutter about for a bit and then they're on their way, headed due south. I started seeing them around 3 pm. The winds are from the northwest, about 5 to 10 mph and the skies are clear.
