Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/29/2007

Number: 1

At 11 am this morning monarchs were sighted in the city of Queretaro, Queretaro by Ral Zubieta! "We saw a lot of monarchs in the Queretaro downtown, and the Alameda (a small Park) could be another overnighting site."
Ral Zubieta is a student of Drs. Isabel Ramirz and Lincoln Brower. He is surveying the monarch migration route across northern Mexico this fall. Downtown Queretaro is less than 70 miles from the center of the monarch overwintering region. We have alerted Estela Romero and others in the town of Angangueo, Michoacan to expect the monarchs' arrival.

Editor's Note: This observer did not specify the number of monarchs present. We entered 'one' in the number field only to mark this record for future consideration.
