Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/26/2007

Number: 1

Ann and her husband called from Smith Point to report "100 monarchs per minute passing for 6 hours on October 26th."

After asking them several times for confirmation sake about the numbers, date and duration, that allowed as how "that was just in the front yard"!!! They walked around to the backyard and there were just as many if not more. They said there were so many butterflies that they would hit you!!!

They said they have lived year round at Smith Point for 13 years, and that last time they had a huge push through their yard was in 1995 when they had 15,000 on November 4th!

They said that the flow had tapered off and now (10/31) they only had about 1000 monarchs in their yard...
