Last week the last monarch adults emerged in the Life Lab's outside garden; were able to feed on goldenrod and migrate under favorable conditions. Just days prior, one a.m. class watched a garden adult emerge and dry; the p.m. class saw it take to the sky. Finally our '07 Lab-raised monarchs migrated earlier today, flying S-SW with temperatures in the low 60's and light winds out of the N. The butterflies fed in the garden on buddleia and tithonia. These thirteen adults appeared to sufficiently warm, in full sun, to controlled-flight temperature. It's been a great year inside and out with Journey North-S! S
