Signs of Fall

Date: 11/08/2007

Number: 1

While many trees are still green, the killing frost last night might just nudge them to turn color and fall. A HUGE flock of grackles found my feeders, an estimate of 300 birds would not be an exageration! Never had such a huge flock so close, the yard was like one big feathered organism! The noise was unbelieveable! They cleaned up every edible thing in the yard. Thankfully, that did not take long and they were on their way again.Every time they pass through, the flock grows larger. Also have a large amount of goldfinches staying around. The juncos are arriving, also the white throated sparrows.
