While swiming at Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo FL, I came upon a mother manatee and her calf. The mother was about 9ft long and the calf appeared to be about 4ft long and much darker than the mother. I was watching the mother eat, she finished and began to swim away. Once the mother moved off the calf swam over to me to check me out. I may have been the first human the calf had seen. Great!!
