I have never seen a Red-winged Blackbird earlier than May. This morning, however, when I went back inside after refilling the feeders and replenishing for the ground feeders, I was watching the usual crowd gather.
Then I saw a couple of black birds come up. Interested in these unusual (for this time of year) visitors, I looked through my binoculars and was AMAZED to see a tan shoulder bar on one of them, and soon the red patch. I had no idea that these birds were in my area at this time of year, let alone with this coloration!
