Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 01/25/2008

Number: 1

Every day we see at least one Monarch in our habitat. This week we watched a female lay her eggs on the milkweed leaves. The chrysalis hatch approximately 50% of the time, giving us the chance to look inside the "dead" ones. The temperatures this week have been in the high 40's in the habitat located near our 2 little ponds and between buildings, offering protection.
Question?
Is it good that we have planted milkweed, keeping the butterflies in the area or should they move on? This is the first year we have noticed them staying the entire winter.
