Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 01/25/2008

Number: 1

The morning of the 25th when I heard the robin, it was warmer than it had been for a couple of weeks. It was about 35 degrees F and reached close to 40 during the day. Previous to this week it had been single digits and below zero for several days.

Hudson is located on the St. Croix River with the Willow river running through the northern edge of town. Willow River State Park is located about 6 miles to the NE. There is open water running all winter long through the park. Robins can often be sighted all winter long feeding along the willow river's edge. The 25th of January was the first time this winter that I had heard a robin singing in town this winter. I believe it was either the true song or the dawn song.
