I saw a red-breasted bird up in one of the trees on our block
(I live in New York City). At first I didn't think it could be a Robin, but it was. When I was a girl (40 years ago), Robin sightings signaled the return of Spring. But this was yesterday, January 28th, with a morning temperature of 30 degrees. The Robin's feathers were puffed up –– he looked like he was trying to stay warm. I searched the internet to find out how common it was to see a Robin in New York in winter, and I came upon this Journey North website.
