While hiking up the icy slopes of the Mississippi river's bluff at the Lilydale brickyards, my daughter and I found a robin in a small tree near the open water of a waterfall. Later, as we drove further up river, we encountered a flock of six robins crossing the highway on a grey and otherwise unremarkable winter day.
