I live in the Santa Cruz Mts above Scotts Valley, California. I am at about 1700' and on the side that faces the sea, so lots of moisture, redwoods, etc. I have heard and seen an unusual amount of robins who have been wintering with me this year. I usually see them more in the valley below me in the winter, but this year they have chose to hang in the big trees. I think we had a good year for madrone berries, toyon berries and thus the high influx in our area. Also seems like fewer blue jays who are notorious rivals of the robin.
