Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/13/2008

Number: 1

This sighting seems quite unusual as there is only one red-winged blackbird under the birdfeeders. (Usually the first ones appear in a group with grackles here.) It is a first year bird with pale wing bars and pale stripe above the eye. With the remains of the ice/snow storm making food hard to find, it is happily eating sunflower seeds!
