Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/16/2008

Number: 1

Heard them singing first (I think it was the zeeup, but I am not sure), then the neighborhood was covered in thousands of Robins. Most amazing sight I've seen in a long time.

We have a lot of Egrets here and they sing beautifully (more like a much smaller bird), but what made me take notice of the difference and begin to look up and around was that the sound was of a lot more birds than just a few, which ruled out the Egrets as you rarely see more than a few together at one time here. And then my husband and I noticed they were everywhere, swooping from the trees, into the swales, up to the roof tops and just everywhere. It was amazing. Unfortunately we did not think to take a picture; we were too surprised by what we were seeing. There were birds everywhere. It was about 5:30 to 6pm in the evening and it was warm, I’d guess high 60’s to low 70’s. Our evenings here are the warmest time of day, when the ocean breezes die down.
