Practice Report (Any Species)

Date: 02/16/2008

Number: 1

Approx. 100 robins came through Feb 16 2008; 20 F and sunny; 6" snow on ground; ate berries on buckthorn, false cypress and service berry; foraged (with hilarious leaf-kicking) in area protected by house overhang; drank and bathed in heated birdbath; faced sun from bare-branched trees; ignored suet and seed feeders; were watched with much nittering by (indoor) cat; stayed about 1 hour, then headed north-northwest. We're in a semi-rural neighborhood about 1/4 mile from the Huron River. We had a similar large group through last year, but I'm unsure of the date. Last year they stripped a bayberry bush in about 20 minutes - fun to watch.
