The day was clear and sunny, probably in the low 20's. He (I assume that no female would be dumb enough to migrate to Michigan in
February) was in a spot on the lawn where our sump-pump empties. The
(roughly) 55 degree water keeps the spot clear of snow, and might have enticed worms to the surface, he was definitely pecking at something.
