Mustang Meadows at Mt. Vernon ES. Our first two tulip plants have emerged on the left side of the fire hydrant. They are nearest the sidewalk--so perhaps that helped warm the ground earlier? Except there's no sign of any tulip plants just as close to the sidewalk but on the right side of the fire hydrant. The 4-H Schoolyard Scouts are a bit worried that these tulip plants will get trampled since students often run in and out of the garden, but hopefully the tulips will prevail! These 2 tulip plants emerged nearly 2 weeks earlier than we reported any last year (10 plants, March 6th).
