Even though there is still about a foot of snow on the ground, spring bird migration is well underway here. Especially noticeable is an increase in the number of horned larks seen in small groups along country roads, and northern cardinals visiting bird feeders. Black-capped chickadees, cardinals, white-breasted nuthatches, European starlings, and house finches are all singing courtship songs on days when the weather is good.
