As we prepare to head off tomorrow on our spring break, we leave behind 48 emerged tulips. The tallest stands at 4 1/2 inches. We're secretly hoping that no blooms appear during our absence, but our teacher will visit the garden twice next week just to check.
(FYI: We kept losing count because so many bulbs had emerged, so we finally gave up and numbered tongue depressors to place beside each "sprout." Talk about using your powers of observation!)
