As an amateur birdwatcher with a backyard feeder, I have never seen a Redwing Blackbird this early in the year. In fact, I have never seen one at my feeder. Here in Alberta, we must be at least 4-5 weeks away from open water where the bird is a more familiar sight. It is really a treat to hear its trilling call. It has been 9 days since my first sighting and I have seen and/or heard it every day since. Night temps have dipped as low as -20 Celsius. I hope he makes it. (It is a male.)
