Hummingbird, Rufous (FIRST)

Date: 03/08/2008

Number: 1

My husband Bob was the first to see the male Rufous at about 8:50 am on Saturday, March 8th. The little guy hung around for only about an hour feeding on our feeders. I had 3 feeders waiting for their arrival. I usually have at least one feeder up by the end of February since our earliest arrival has been on February 26th several years ago. There was 2 inches of snow on the ground and it was pouring down rain that day. The latest date we've had our first show up was March 12th, so we knew it was any day and they'd be showing up. After the Winter we've had, this is the breath of Spring we've been waiting for!
