Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/17/2008

Number: 1

Seen at Red Slough WMA 4-5 miles west of Tom, Oklahoma. Feeding on blooming pear tree. Studied through binoculars for 5 minutes to make sure it wasn't a Viceroy. It was too large to be a viceroy plus lacked the black postmedian line in hindwing. It looked fairly fresh.

Tom, OK
