Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/19/2008

Number: 1

We saw approximately 20-30 butterflies in groups sitting on a palm tree behind my beach house at sunset. In any given direction, we could see maybe a butterfly or two flitting around all late afternoon (from around 5ish until sunset). Other trees in the area had groups resting. I also saw several fluttering around some Oleanders further in on the island (closer to the Sea Wall, this was around noon) I did see a couple nectaring on some sort of orange flowered vine. I got pictures of the groups b/c it was really neat to see them in such a "large" group.
