The first (of many thousands yet to come,) Canada geese, showed up in Winnipeg last week. Competition for territory is pretty keen as there will be literally thousands spending the season within the city. The pairs are standing around on the ice on every little pond in the area, waiting for the ice to melt and fending off would-be intruders.
