I attached photos of the momma hummer and her nest in out lilac tree. She doesn't seem to have much of the rufous color. I did spot (in the right light) a red patch under her chin on her throat.
It's so cool. I hear the male hummer buzzing around a lot keeping the crows and chickadees away. Why would chickadees want to mess with the nest?
I think it is an Anna's. As you probably noticed she has a nest with I think 2 babies. It started snowing here. Do you think I should be concerned? It is currently 36 degrees.
