I have a 300 foot power tower across the street from my house. It has become a migration stop for the turkey vultures. That started one year after a major flood. After the flood waters receded, there were so much dead carp around that they had a feast! A turkey vulture can smell food ten miles away. They kept coming back after that year even though there wasn't a flood. The number roosting in the tower has increased every year. Last year I counted 138. They congregate in social groups and are fun to watch. It's actually quite a sight seeing them all soar in before dusk.

The last of the bald eagles left around March 12th. There were only a few stragglers by then. The bald eagles leave almost to the day when the turkey vultures start arriving. Why, I don't know.
