We were so happy that the first tulip waited to bloom after our spring break was finished! The flowers are beautiful, but the leaves look very ragged this year. I don't know if it was the unusually cold weather once they had emerged that did the damage or whether there is something chewing on them. The kids don't seem to mind.
By the way, our 4th grade did a separate study with the same bulbs -- the experiment was to see if it mattered which direction you planted the bulb. While they emerged at different times, they have all evened out in leaf height. We don't have blooms on them yet -- it will be interesting to see if they are different sizes or the stems different heights!
