I can't be certain but I believe the pair that returned here on the 22nd will be staying. They have already started to work on a nest, which is a good sign to me. Especially where they've located it, I can view it readily from our deck doors.
They've been defending it closely and while their away I help out with chasing off the starlings & black birds. The only problem with the location of the nest is, that it's in a crook of a very large branch. Which is no more than 5' off the ground, we have a few feral cats that have shown up in recent weeks here. So I will have to stand guard in order to keep them front getting the young when they're hatched. This is my most favorite time of the year, cause the birding opportunities are fantastic in my own backyard. I can spot between 50-60 species here on a daily basis, I'm very fortunate to live here.

I've also observed this morning that the nesting pair are going through their mating rituals it would seem. They've stopped guarding the nest and the pair spent their time hopping and several hours this morning hopping and flitting around the field behind our home. We keep it mowed close enough to be able to walk down to a spring fed branch that runs behind our home so observing them was very easy.
