In spite of 10 centimeters of snow over the past 24 hours I heard the first real sound of spring with the "zeeecup"call of a robin while tending my sugar maple trees. My first sap run was on the 10th of January with periodic runs over the past two months. Due to the extreme cold I am behind last years production by 25 liters. Now that Christopher Robin has arrived and is singing I expect that maple syrup production in Shubenacadie will finally arrive.
