All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/30/2008

Number: 1

Late this afternoon there was a large flock of Canadas on the ice
along hwy
2 at Long Sault (west of Cornwall) A good count put them at over
12,000.
There were also 1,800 Greater Snow Geese with them in a single group
and an additional 100 overhead closer to Cornwall.

The river is frozen on the Canadian side except for an area of fast
water at Long Sault. The shipping channel (on the American side west
of Cornwall) is now open but with broken ice.
