I have noticed the monarchs flying through Riverside for about two-and-a-half weeks. On 3-31-08, I observed as many as 50 monarchs, all flying north. There was a slight breeze yesterday and it was mostly sunny. I observed the monarchs from 2:10-2:30 p.m. while I was waiting for my son to get out of school. I do notice the monarchs at other times of the day, I just don't actually sit and count them. It was too difficult to see their wings since they were flying. All the monarchs seem to be about the same size and color.
