First off, robins (quite a few) were back for a couple of weeks before I heard one sing. I am familiar with their other vocalizations, call notes and whinny call, etc.- the one I reported was doing the typical song (not the dawn song), finally! The weather has been cold this spring here, which I'm sure discouraged them from singing. The first I heard was in the evening (6:30 pm) on the 22nd, temps were in the mid-30's, sky was partly cloudy, and wind was calm. I was arriving at our church to play for Easter Vigil services, and heard the singer in a grove of sugar maples in the adjacent cemetery.
