Bald Eagle

Date: 03/28/2008

Number: 1

In this area of the Annapolis Valley Bald Eagles migrate here for winter (during December, January, February) Our annual winter count in recent years has been in the range of 300 to 500 winter Bald Eagles. Late February they begin to leave for their nesting territories except for the 20 or so resident pairs that nest locally. Also a few immatures remain as well. Early March adults were observed carrying sticks and near some of the nests. March 28, 2008 on 3 different nests in the Port Williams-Canning area an adult was observed in a nest apparently incubating.
