Three Monarchs sighted in Laurel, MS this afternoon. One at our farm NW of Laurel at 2:30 p.m. circling and nectaring on the spring blooms, especially Azalea 'Formoso': big fat and fairly fresh looking.
At 3:48 p.m. at intersection of 10th Street and 2nd Avenue heading NE cattie cornered from the SW, and then, a couple of blocks away, at 3:56 p.m. on the corner of Kingston and Susie B Ruffin, a slightly faded Monarch in a residential garden, heading into the shaded area with no flowers, so presumably on the prowl for mate or more nectar.
I have A. curassavica up and hopefully, the old adage will apply, "If you plant it, they will come" :-)
