Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/03/2008

Number: 1

Asclepias viridis blooms could be seen across the divided four
lanes of US87 in the expanse between edge of 87 and RR right-of-way for the last five miles of my trip from PL to Victoria today. The making of a good, really good, crop. Drove along the shoulder and saw some plants that had three and a few with five blooms. Can't walk with this cast on my foot, but the density in a two mile stretch was exceptional ... some spots ten feet by ten feet would have had over fifty plants, move over ten to twenty feet, and there would be another spot like that, and this went on for two miles. Altus got home later,
had taken a different route and couldn't wait to tell me she had seen the most viridis she had ever seen around the US
77 loop on the NE side of Victoria. We continue to have eggs (50+) in the backyard today. Still have faded monarchs flying thru.
