Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Currasivica growing at home and at three elementary schools is looking just ok although most are still only a foot tall and not a huge amount of leaves. Two schools had a round of maybe 5 - 10 caterpillars and that wiped out the little milkweed they had to start with. We've seen Monarch males and females flying through and in the gardens for the past three weeks. Usually one at a time, but last Friday we saw two and three together all day. Very faded but otherwise in good shape.

Serious wasp problems are keeping the population low in my back yard and tonight I couldn't find a single larva.

The GREAT news is that at a fourth school, Hamilton Elementary which is only ten minutes from my house, we counted 75 + larva with still more eggs on the leaves. We had the same success with first generation larva Hamilton last year!
On Monday I drove and hour away to buy more milkweed from a great nursery that understands WHY people buy milkweed in the first place.
I've found it's VERY risky buying Milkweed around here and feel confident that it hasn't been sprayed for aphids.
