This evening just around 6:00 I heard and then saw the phoebe - yahoo - she/he is back again. The weather this weekend has been beautiful - lots of warm spring sun and the snow is melting very quickly. There is still snow in the bush and the pond is starting to thaw. There are red-wings and canada geese and even the great blue heron down at the pond. The phoebes nest right near the back door - that's where I have been finsihing off my maple syrup this year on a propane stove. I was busy skimming two pots of syrup when I heard that sweet song of spring - ms phoebe and mr phoebe are back on the farm!! There are millions of cluster flies slowly buzzing around and sitting on the porch railing, and I have been seeing hornets for the past few days, and there are moths in the sap buckets today- good food for a hungry phoebe.
