Saw and heard first Phoebe this year in yard. Our pair from last year froze on the nest during a late snow storm, so it was nice to see them in the yard again.

The peepers started two days ago, but today the bigger frogs started piping in with a much deeper tone. (Bullfrogs maybe or green leopard frog?)We have both in our pond.

Also saw red winged blackbird fly by and the chickadees and tufted titmice are loud and boisterous. Also hear big woodpecker drumming away on a dead tree in the wood. Didn't sound loud enough to be the pileated so perhaps it was the flicker has returned.

Snowdrops and crocus in bloom. Narcissius buds and lilac buds swelling. Saw new leaves unfurling on the hepatica, and still waiting for the arbutus buds to open and release their lovely foliage. Grasses are greening up nicely and the mosses are so bright a green they seem almost flourescent.
