Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/09/2008

Number: 1

I have been seeing Monarchs for a couple of weeks here in McGehee. While working in the garden today, I saw 5, two of them were chasing each other. One one was smaller and was checking out all the plants.

The 5 seen today in McGehee, AR: Wind--not much Mostly cloudy. Have salvia and cornflowers blooming, but they just seemed to be flying through. Did not see them feeding. Time of day--4 seen between 9:30 and 12:00, one seen approx. 3:00. One of them ( the smallest) was flying low to the ground, checking out plants, actually seemed to be getting a drink of water at one plant.

I did notice that one of them had older looking wings, sort of faded (could this have been another kind). I will check for wing condition on others that I see.
