Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/10/2008

Number: 1

As I was returning from Victoria on FM1090 road at five, I had a very faded monarch cross in front of me, two feet above pavement moving strong SW to NE. This was the only monarch I saw all afternoon and I took the loop around Victoria especially to be on the lookout. Great time to see viridis, blooms all over the place where the roadsides were mowed last fall. Found some viridis showing up in two locations where it has been absent for ten years. Those of you in SE Texas, this might be a good weekend to go on those old roads and find stands of viridis. Asperula should be making a good showing in the southern part of Central TX, if it isn't too dry, from Cuero to San Antonio to Junction.
