A single female Barn Swallow appeared April 12, three or four more over the next three days. Now, on the morning of April 16, perhaps eight or more swallows are actively investigating their established nests and habitual perches. I expect more to come - the majority arrived on April 20 last year.
We are very happy to see them soaring in the sky and hearing their cheerful excited songs. They help keep us free from mosquitoes! This year we began House Sparrow control in order to encourage a successful breeding season for our favorite migratory birds!
