During 4/10-11/08 we received about 19 inches of snow, and while we live on a the Embarrass River we had been seeing Hooded Mergansers in the river as it melted prior to this snow. We were afraid that the snow would have driven them off, but were glad to see five of them (3 males, 2 females) come around the bend in the river on 4/13, and are saw 9 on 4/14.
My husband also heard Sand Hill Cranes in the wildlife management area that is on the other side of our river property. These are big signs of spring for me!
