Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/18/2008

Number: 1

First adult monarch flew through my yard headed towards the back woods this morning. I couldn't tell if it was male or female. It never landed.

It was definitely a Monarch. I have been rearing Monarchs for quite a few years now and know one when I see one. I tried to follow it but it flew past me and into the back woods. I know a Monarch from a Painted Lady, American Lady and even a Viceroy. I occasionally get a Viceroy here in the fall.

I occasionally see a Monarch in the spring, passing through, but it isn't until end of July or August that I get them laying eggs. I believe this is the earliest I've ever seen a Monarch pass through !
