Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/18/2008

Number: 1

Our tulips at Columbus Elementary School are exquisite. We now have all of them blooming. Classes have been using them for various projects. Our science classes in third went out to see the parts of the flower and were amazed to see that the pollen is purple. Many classes have gone out in the early morning and later in the afternoon. Everyone was surprised to see that they close for the night to protect them from the cold and open so wide when the sun hits them. ELA classes are using them for poetry, and several classes have gone out to draw them. We have off next week and are disappointed that we will not be seeing them. We hope they will still be blooming when we get back. More projects are planned.
