I saw the monarch fly low acros the drive during the semi-annual plant sale at the South Carolina Botanical Garden in Clemson. I was close enough to check the sex or condition although it looked rather fresh. My husband tried to locate it but was unsucessful. It is unusual for us to see spring monarchs.
