We don't have any milkweed yet, at home or at school. There are lots of flowers blooming, so the butterflies can surely find something to eat. The butterfly we saw last week was bright orange, like one that had just emerged from its chrysalis. We saw another one today that was very faded, so maybe it had overwintered. The students noticed that it was flying low to the ground. One of my students saw another bright orange one this morning, but the rest of the class didn't see that one.
We'll keep observing our gardens to see when the milkweed comes up.
